House Painting in Fethiye: What to Know Before Getting a Quote

What to know before having the inside or outside of your house painted in Fethiye or Seydikemer: what drives the price, what a quote should include, timing.

15 October 2026 · 4 min read

When you decide to have your house painted, the first question is usually "how much will it cost?" But to get an accurate quotation, you first need to be clear about what the job includes. When two quotations for the same house differ, the reason is usually not the price but the scope. This guide sums up what to know before having painting done in Fethiye or Seydikemer, and how to judge a quotation.

What drives the price

The price of a painting job depends more on what the job involves than on the number of square metres. Whoever quotes needs answers to these questions:

  • The condition of the surfaces: Are there cracks, blistering, damp stains or crumbling plaster? Every surface that needs repair means extra work before painting.
  • Which surfaces are being painted: Walls, ceilings, doors, windows, railings, woodwork and metalwork are each assessed separately.
  • Type and quality of paint: Interior, exterior, washable or anti-mould products change both the price and how long the finish lasts.
  • Number of coats and colour changes: Painting a light colour over a dark one usually needs more coats.
  • Access: High ceilings, stairwells and the need for scaffolding on the outside affect both time and cost.
  • Whether the house is furnished: In a furnished house, moving and protecting furniture takes extra time.

That is why a firm price given over the phone often changes later. An accurate quotation needs someone to see the surfaces.

What you can prepare before asking for a quote

To speed things up, it helps to have the following ready:

  1. Photos: Of every room to be painted and of any problem surfaces (cracks, stains).
  2. Rough measurements: Number of rooms, approximate ceiling height and, for the outside, the number of storeys.
  3. What you want: Will the colours change, do you want a particular paint brand, and by what date does the job need to be finished?
  4. The state of the house: Will it be empty at that time, or still in use?

With this information, the first assessment will be more realistic. A firm quotation, however, usually needs a site visit.

What a quotation must put in writing

A good painting quotation prevents a later argument about what was or wasn't included. Look for:

  • Which rooms and surfaces will be painted, item by item.
  • The brand, product name and number of coats of paint.
  • Whether crack repair, skim coating, sanding and primer are included.
  • Protecting furniture and floors, cleaning up at the end and removing waste.
  • Start date, estimated duration, payment plan and whether VAT (KDV in Türkiye) is included.
  • The scope and length of the workmanship guarantee.

When to paint

Interior painting can be done all year round, but very damp, cold days aren't ideal, because the house needs to be aired and the paint needs to dry. Outside, the weather matters far more. In Fethiye, spring and autumn are usually the best seasons. For details, see when is the best time to paint exterior walls in Fethiye.

If you want to use or rent out the house in summer, planning the painting before the season starts is easier on both your schedule and the house.

Don't paint over damp

If a wall has damp or mould, the cause must be fixed first. Otherwise, the new paint will blister and stain within a few months. To work out where the damp is coming from, see damp and mould at home.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a price over the phone? A rough assessment can be made from photos. But a firm price given without seeing the surfaces is likely to change later.

Is it cheaper if I buy the paint myself? It can be, but whether the product suits the surface, and what the guarantee covers, may change. This is worth discussing at the quotation stage.

Can the painting be done while I'm abroad? Yes. With a key handover, progress photos and written approval at each step, the job can be run remotely.
